Joan Vivian (Decker) Brayack, 81, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, in Heritage Valley Sewickley.
Born Feb. 6, 1932, in Aliquippa, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Felix) Decker, she was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Hopewell Twp. A graduate of Hopewell High School, Joan received her nursing degree from Duquesne University and her master's degree in counseling from Slippery Rock University. She was employed by the Hopewell Area School District for 30 years as a school nurse and later in her career as a high school guidance counselor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul Brayack; a daughter-in-law, Charlene 'Liz' Brayack and a brother, Robert Decker.
Surviving are her loving companion, Robert Pancottini, with whom she resided; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael (Diane) Brayack of Hopewell Twp., and David Brayack of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter-in-law, Colleen Brayack of Weirton, WV; three grandchildren, Daniel Brayack, Michael Brayack and Stefanie Shakespeare; three great-grandchildren, Tamia, Kira and Shaelin Shakespeare, and her faithful dog 'Jake.'
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 2205 McMinn Street, Aliquippa, www.tatalovichfuneralhome.com, where a service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. , followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Hopewell Twp., with Father Howard Campbell, officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Twp.
