Jennie E. (Decker) Blanke
N.J. native loved caring for family, animals
Jennie Edna (Decker) Blanke, 90, of Lime Ridge died on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at the Bloomsburg Hospital.
Born in Bloomingdale, N.J., on Sept. 22, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Charles Decker and Jennie (Matthews) Decker. She was widowed from her husband, Louis W. Blanke.
Jennie was a nurse's aide at the Maple Road Nursing Home in West Milford, N.J.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Berwick.
She enjoyed quilting, fishing and camping. She loved animals and especially loved caring for her family.
Jennie is survived by her children: Leonard Charles Blanke and wife, Diane, West Milford, N.J.; Mary Diaz, Bloomsburg; Susie Cooper, Orangeville; and Joseph A. Blanke and wife, Barbara, Nescopeck. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her three sisters are: Francis Crum, Milianville; Louise Decker, West Milford; and Nancy Hershburg, Whippany, N.J.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Louis Blanke Jr.; and her siblings: Marie Decker; Leonard Decker; Everett Decker; and Gertrude Thompson.
Friends will be received Friday, Feb. 11, from noon until 1 p.m. at the McMichael & Rairigh Funeral Home Inc., 119-121 E. Third St., Berwick. Her funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. following the visitation hour at the funeral home. Officiating will be her pastor, the Very Rev. Francis J. Tamburro of St. Mary's Church. Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
Note: 1930 Census proves her birth in Passaic Co, New Jersey. There are two Bloomingdales in New Jersey. - R. Stackhouse 2/2011
