Opal I. Burnau, 94, of Berne, died at 5:35 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Swiss Village Retirement Community.
Mrs. Burnau was born in Huntington County on Dec. 8, 1915 to Jesse R. Decker and Bertha Elick Decker. She married Lowell M. Burnau in Markle on Nov. 23, 1935; he preceded her in death on March 25, 1975.
Mrs. Burnau graduated from East Rockcreek High School in 1933. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Bluffton.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Janice Edris of Clinton and Joan Currier of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Alice Settlemeyer of Berne; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Burnau was preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Lori Bayless.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Larry Sprinkle officiating. Private graveside services will be conducted Monday morning at Elm Grove Cemetery.
