Mrs. John P Butt, of McKnightstown, mother of J. L. Butt, Esq., of Gettysburg, died at her home on Wednesday at 1:30 after an illness of several weeks.
Mrs. Butt, who was nearly eighty three years of age, lived in and around McKnightstown her entire life. She was keenly interested in the affairs of the McKnightstown Reformed church and contributed liberally to its support, being also a substantial donor to Hood College at Frederick, the Hoffman orphanage near Littlestown, and other charitable institutions.
Prior to her marriage Mrs. Butt was Miss Sarah Deardorff, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Jacob Deardorff.
Mrs. Butt is survived by her husband, John P Butt, of McKnightstown; one son, J. L. Butt, Esq., of Gettysburg; one daughter, Mrs. Harry Riddlemoser, of McKnightstown; and two sisters,
Mrs. Mary A Snyder, of McKnightstown, and Mrs. Harriet Toot, of Gettysburg.
Funeral services at the home in McKnightstown Friday morning at 10:00. Interment in the McKnightstown cemetery.
