Martha Ann Bratton, 62, of South 28th Street, Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at home.

She was born in Steelton, PA, the oldest child of the late Eunice Robinson Dean.

A graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School and Harrisburg Cosmetology School, was employed as a psychiatric aid for 20 years at the Harrisburg State Hospital, as a clerk for Homemakers for 11 years and retired from PA Blue Cross/Blue Shield after several years of service.

Was a life-long member of Monumental A.M.E. Church, where she formerly served as Treasurer, of the Board of Stewards, as Second Vice-President of the Lay Organization, Chaplain of the Matilda Howard Women's Missionary Society, President of the Combined Choir and the Monumental Super Choir, President of Progressive Women of Monumental; founder of Sunday Worship Service in the Park, member of the Student Aid Committee and was a Fresh Air Mother for 5 years for the Fresh Air Fund of New York and she adopted Earl Mosley from the program as her godson.

She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend, who loved children, cooking, playing bingo, wearing stylish clothing and hats, and watching football.

Martha Ann leaves to celebrate her life, her sisters, Cynthia L. James of Bressler, and Eunice Dean McCoy of Jacksonville, FL; her brother and sister-in-law, Kim R. and Debbie Dean of Harrisburg; an aunt, Yvonne Law Parker of Monongahela and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her life will be celebrated Monday, March 28 at 12 Noon in her church, 2nd and Adams Street, Steelton, with viewing from 10 a.m. until Noon.

Burial in Churchville Cemetery, Steelton.

Arrangements entrusted to the Ministry of Comfort of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home.
