Emma C. (Dean) Pierce, 91, of Fairfield Township died early Sunday at her residence. She had been in failing health for the past month. Born in Bridgeton, Mrs. Pierce was a seamstress most of her life, most recently working for 10 years at the Chatam Dress Co. of Bridgeton. She was the daughter of the late William and Dorcas Dean.

She was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Indian tribe. She was also a member of the Centerton Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn Harmon and Rosella Brown, both of Fairfield Township; a step-daughter, Carrie Durham of Carmel; four step-sons, Luther, Melvin, Herbert and Everett Pierce, all of Carmel; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by a son, Leon Gould Jr., who died in 1983*.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the Sray Funeral Home, 62 Landis Avenue, Carlls Corner, Bridgeton. Burial will follow at the Gouldtown Memorial Park, Route 49, Bridgeton. Friends may call Wednesday 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland County Hospice, P.O. Box 2221, South Vineland, N.J. 08360.
