Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Jewel Hodges Deal of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbi and Eddie Coleman of Statesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Roxanne Deal of Statesboro; two sisters, Dottie Greene of Miami, Fla., and Martha Horne of Wilmington, Island; two brothers, Herman Deal of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Ralph Deal of Statesboro; seven grandchildren, Barry Evans (Crystal), Bryan Evans (Ginci), Brandon Evans, Shannon Hinson (Corey), Heather Taylor (Jonathan), Zachary Deal and Cheyanne Wheeler (Jason); and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Osborne officiating, assisted by the Rev. James Barnes. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
