Charles Lavan DeVore, 81, of Kingsland, formerly of Lamesa, passed away January 4, 2012. He was born to CL and Opal (Greer) DeVore on May 23, 1930 in Nolan County, Texas.

Mr. DeVore married Patsy Brownlow on June 4, 1948 in Lamesa, Texas. He made a career as an oil field foreman and in his spare time, he enjoyed bird hunting and working in the yard. He was known for his black eyed peas and other staples he raised in his gardens. Up until a year ago, he could be found on the golf course. Mr. DeVore was a deacon at the Highland Lakes Church of Christ, and was a strong Christian, devout husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patsy (Brownlow) DeVore, of Kingsland, daughters, Carolyn Harris and husband David, of Canyon, Texas, Betty Reven and husband Larry, of Kingsland, Texas, six grandsons, eighteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren a sister Mary Gist, and husband John, of Lubbock, Texas. He is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry DeVore and sister, Paula DeVore.

Pallbearers were Jason Harris, Clay Harris, Monty Harris, Dusty Harris, Dan Reven, and Randy Reven.

A viewing was held 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm Friday January 6, 2012 at Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 7, 2012 at the Highland Lakes Church of Christ with Mr. Joe Winnett presiding. Interment followed at Llano City Cemetery.
