Born in Providence, a son of the late Ralph and Madalena (Zompa) DeRita, he lived in the city for 51 years before moving to Narragansett in 1960.
Mr. DeRita had also worked for several other construction firms including Fanning & Doorley and Campanella & Cardi.
His wife is his only survivor.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the A. Tarro & Sons Funeral Home, 425 Broadway, Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew's Church, Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence, at 9. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
