33-year old Marine Corps Major R. E. DeMers was one of six naval aviators of one flight killed when his F9F Panther jet slammed into a fog-covered mountain near Airfield K-3 (Pohang), South Korea.

Major DeMers was survived by his daughter, 7-year old Diana; his mother, Mrs. Eugene E. Brey; his father, Del H. DeMers.
