DRACUT -- Emma M. (Demers) Abreu, 74, a resident of Dracut who retired from Wang Laboratories and was a very active member of St. Michael Church, in Lowell, died Sunday, June 11, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of Custodio "Custy" Abreu, and the wife of the late Anthony J. Abreu.
She was born in Dover, N.H., Jan. 26, 1932, daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie (Charest) Demers.
Before retiring, Mrs. Abreu was a quality control inspector for more than 20 years at Wang Laboratories of both Tewksbury and Lowell.
She was a communicant of St. Michael Church, in Lowell, where she donated her time making rosaries for baptisms at the church, answering the parish phones, and cooking for the clergy on the weekends.
Mrs. Abreu volunteered for more than five years at the D'Youville Senior Care Center, in Lowell.
She was a member of D'Youville Manor Ladies Guild and the League of Catholic Women.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and JoAnn Abreu of Centerville, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Mark Boutin of Lowell, and Audra and Ronald Pinkham of Lowell; a stepson, Michael Abreu of Dracut; two stepdaughters, Sheryl and her husband, Earle Thompson of North Conway, N.H., and Pamela Abreu of Lowell; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Gerard Chateauneuf of Clearwater, Fla..
She is also survived by her grandchildren among them, Steven Abreu of Cincinnati, Ashley Abreu of Boston, Alissa Pinkham and Aaron Pinkham, both of Lowell, Anthony Abreu of Dracut, and Timothy Biron of Lowell; several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late David and Wayne Abreu.
