John DeHaan was born on June 19, 1911, in Sloterdijk, Netherlands to Sander and Trijntje (Roos) DeHaan. He lived in the Netherlands and Pella, living the past 12 years in Pella.

He was married to Dora DeHaan who passed away in 1985 and Annie DeHaan who passed away in 1998.

John was a farmer. He had also worked as a janitor for the First Christian Reformed Church and for Jaarsma Bakery. He was a member of the Covenant Reformed Church in Pella.

John, 89, of Pella, died on Sunday, October 22, 2000, at Pella Regional Health Center-Long Term Care Unit

John was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Dora and Annie; three sisters, Wijntije Verburg, Janice Sefton, and an infant sister; and five brothers, Ted, Morris, Case, Gysbert and Roelof.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tena and Dennis Roozeboom of Pella; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Tena) Hoogendoom of Pella, Mrs. Mink De Jong, and Mrs. Kathrien Griffioen, both of the Netherlands; a brother, Sander DeHaan of the Netherlands; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Tena DeHaan and Mrs. Catherine DeHaan, both of Pella; as well as many nieces and nephews in America and the Netherlands.
