NAUGATUCK — Mr. Paul Alexander DeFranzo Sr., 77, passed away at his home on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., in 1930, he was the son of the late Mr. Alessandro Artissunchi and the late Mrs. Viola D'Ambrosia Artissunchi. Paul was self-employed and worked with his loving wife in their own retail business, Parker's Store, located in downtown Naugatuck. He is also retired from General Data Comm.
Paul was a member of the Union County Busy Bee's. He was an avid bird watcher, had a passion for gardening and would make the statement often that "you can't eat flowers," so vegetables were his specialty. Paul also loved cooking, wood working, hats and flashlights, but his two greatest loves were his heavenly Father and the wonderful family he has left behind. He was also a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.
Paul was married to his loving wife, Mrs. Georgette DeFranzo, for 50 years this past March.
Besides his wife, he leaves behind three sons, Mr. Paul DeFranzo Jr. of Weddington, N.C., Mr. Edward DeFranzo of Wesley Chapel, N.C., and Mr. Anthony DeFranzo of Naugatuck; three daughters, Mrs. Rose Almeda of Montgomery Creek, Calif., Mrs. Paula Blanchard of Winter Haven, Fla., and Mrs. Lisa Padilla of Prospect; a sister, Mrs. Margaret "Babe"Cook of West Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
