Death: Mar. 14, 2013

James C. DeChambeau passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 surrounded by family at age 85.

Jim was born March 8, 1928 to Elgy and Edith (Thomas) DeChambeau in Pocatello, Idaho. He graduated from Malad High School in 1946 and moved to Boise, where he met his wife, Muriel (Hammack) DeChambeau. They were married October 25th, 1947 in Jerome, ID and spent 65 years together. They had two sons, Brian DeChambeau and Thomas DeChambeau.

Jim attended Boise Junior College before beginning work as an engineer for Mountain Bell. When he retired, he and family built a cabin at Terrace Lakes from the ground up. This cabin was the place where many great times were had and one of Jim's favorite places to spend time with loved ones. While at Terrace Lakes, Jim and family enjoyed playing golf and taking walks.

Jim always had a great sense of humor and always kept everyone on their toes.

Reading was one of Jim's favorite pastimes. You could always find him flipping through a HandyMan magazine or burrowing his nose in the latest western novel.

When he wasn't reading, Jim spent time with his dog, Buddy. The two of them enjoyed their daily walks together until the very end of Jim's life. Jim and Buddy were the best of friends and could always be found in each other's company.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elgy and Edith (Thomas) DeChambeau, and his brother, Ronnie DeChambeau.

He is survived by his wife, Muriel (Hammack) DeChambeau; his son, Brian DeChambeau and daughter in law, Sue DeChambeau; his son, Thomas DeChambeau; his granddaughter, Katherine DeChambeau; and his beloved, Buddy.

Jim was a great man to all who knew him and he will be dearly missed. He had a kind soul and a soft spot for animals.

The family asks that donations in memory of Jim please be made to the Idaho Humane Society.

A viewing will be held Tuesday March 19th, 2013 from 6pm to 8pm at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel in Boise.
