John Marion DeBolt enlisted in the regiment on June 5, 1861 as a Private.

He was promoted to Corporal on May 3, 1863.

He had initially been buried in Gettysburg's Evergreen Cemetery, and then was subsequently moved to the Ohio Plot, Section E, Site #5 in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.

John Marion DeBolt was the oldest son of Isaac DeBolt and Elizabeth Poundstone. He had three younger brothers who also served in the Union Army: Abraham, Isaac & George DeBolt. All 3 of them served in Co. C. of the 11th Indiana Vol. Cavalry.
