PRINCEVILLE, IL - Dorothy M. Beck, R.N., 80, of rural Princeville died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at her residence.
She was born April 1, 1928, in Gold Township, Bureau County, Ill., the daughter of Glenn and Marie Rasmussen DeBolt. She married Raymond G. Beck Jr., on Feb. 21, 1954, in Peoria.
He survives along with one son, David Beck of Hanna City; one daughter, Patty (and Rob) Peters of Bensenville, Ill.; six grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and three sisters, Gladys Minks and Ruth Ann Vincent, both of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mary Jane (and George) Billings of Sun City, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.
Dorothy graduated from Sheffield High School in 1945 and the Methodist School of Nursing in 1949.
She was a registered nurse and worked as supervisor of the surgery department at Methodist Hospital from 1950 to 1955, then worked as a hospital nurse until retiring in 1985.
She was a Girl Scout leader in 1963 and was a member of the Princeville United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Wyoming Funeral Home. The Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Methodist School of Nursing.
