Anna De Weerd was born September 6, 1925 to Bill and Grace Kamminga De Groot in Middleburg, Iowa. She passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of eighty-six.

On April 17, 1946 Anna was united in marriage with Dick De Weerd at the Middleburg Christian Reformed Church in Middleburg, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Beverly Ann, Judith Ann, and David Alan.

Anna and Dick owned and operated a grocery store for fourteen years in Carmel, Iowa. After they sold the store, the couple moved to Pella where they purchased the Dutch Mill Motel operating it for thirteen years.

Anna was a member of the Third Reformed Church in Pella. Anna's many talents included knitting, crocheting, tatting and playing the organ and piano.

Anna is survived by her son-in-law Bill Quick, two granddaughters: Brenda Johnston and her husband Gary of Prairie City and Elizabeth Quick of Pleasant Hill; two great-grandsons: Hayden and Justin Johnston; and three sisters: Priscilla Broek of Sioux Center, Iowa, Harriet (Gerald) Kroese of Hull, Iowa, and Audrey (Mike) Fedders of George, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Dick, in 2005; her children: Beverly in 2010, Judith who died at birth, and David who died at the age of twenty-seven.
