Cecile was first married to G.F. Newkirk on June 14, 1922, in Ottumwa, Iowa. She married Wesley B. Maring on July 27, 1924, in Ottumwa. She married John K. Dayton on October 10, 1942, in Lancaster, Missouri.

Cecile L. Dayton, 79, of 1445 Swanson died at 8:20 p.m. March 8, 1985, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following heart surgery.


She was born Aug. 27, 1905, in Henry County to William and Ollie Mae Brown Huffman.


A resident of Ottumwa more than 50 years, she was a Campfire leader for 15 years and former member of the Eagles Auxiliary.


She is survived by one son, Wesley Maring Jr. of Fremont; three daughters, Jean Munley and Frances Dickerson of Ottumwa and Stephanie Thein of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Bill Huffman of Des Moines; and one sister, Maxine Hunter of Farmington, Maine. She was preceded in death by a grandson.


The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Neil Guy of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Munley, Jerry Dean, Dennis Dean, Orville Thein, Lloyd Munley and Harry McVey.


The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 today.
