Margaret L. Davis, 82, of 423 S. Pocahontas, died at 4:19 pm Nov. 22, 2011, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Ottumwa to Darwin and Mary Dickerson Dayton. She married Clyde "C.J." Davis on March 25, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in Nashue. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2011. Margaret was a 1947 graduate of Ottumwa High School. After graduation, she worked at John Morrell & Co.; later she became a homemaker.
Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and gardening, but most of all spending time with her family and friends. She attended Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Chris Davis of Ottumwa and Steve(Lauri)Davis of Galesburg, Ill.; a daughter, Marcia(Sam)Stam of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, Megan(Doug Morriss)Hotz of St. Louis, Mo., Zach(Katie)Davis of Brooklyn, N.Y., Cody(Trudy)Davis and Stephanie(Scott)Perry, both of Ottumwa; and four great-grandchildren, Tate, Drew, Reid and Luke, all of St.Louis, Mo.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James V.Dayton and Robert D. Dayton.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday at Reece Funeral Home; with Rev. Charles McCracken officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 am Friday with the family present from 6-8 pm. Friday evening. Memorials may be made to Hospice, Ottumwa, Iowa.
