Dr. Jason Edward "Jay" Dayan, 86, of Longboat Key, died April 28, 2010.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Temple Beth Israel, Longboat Key. Interment will follow at Temple Beth Shalom Cemetery, Sarasota.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda, of 57 years; daughters Susie of Rhode Island and Liz of Silver Spring, Md.; a son, Andy of Syracuse, N.Y.; a son-in-law, Jonathan Rains; and two grandchildren,
Jacob and Jennifer Rains.

Dr. Jason "Jay" Dayan was a loving husband, parent and grandparent.

He was born in Newburgh, N.Y., and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and then completed his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Yale University. He went on to hold leadership positions in the chemical industry and retired from BASF as director of technology. He was an active volunteer in his community. His smile and sense of humor warmed the lives of everyone who knew him.

Donations may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research.

Dr. Jason Edward "Jay" Dayan, 86, of Longboat Key, died April 28, 2010.
