Mrs. Buffington, 83, of Starkville, Miss., died Aug. 21, 2002.

Survivors included her daughter, Sandra Buffington Eades of Long Beach; a son, Rex G. Buffington II of Starkville; a sister, Marge Conner of Mobile, Ala.; brothers, John Day of Quitman, and Cronfield Day of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
