Martha Isabelle Day was born Oct. 22, 1844, in Bartholomew county, Indiana, and died at Munden, Kansas, Tuesday, May 9, 1916.

At two years of age, her parents removed to Davis county, Iowa, where she lived four years, moving with her parents to Appanoose county, Iowa; from there she removed to Republic county, Kansas, in the spring of 1880, and resided here the balance of her life.

She was married to Josephus Brown February 18, 1868. To this union was born three children, John, Jesse and Cora Brown--who, with three brothers, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, are left to mourn her departure.

Sister Brown was converted at the age of 15 years and united with the Methodist church and for many years was a member of the Pleasant View Church.

The funeral services were held at the Munden M. E. church, Thursday, May 11, Rev. D. H. Colvin preaching the sermon. Burial in the Ida cemetery.
