Birth: Apr. 18, 1900
Greenwood County
Kansas, USA
Death: Nov. 24, 1940
Russell County
Kansas, USA

Fielden Sylvenus Day was born near Eureka, Kansas, April 18, 1900, and departed this life November 24, 1940, at his home in Russell, Kansas, at the age of 40 years, 7 months and 6 days. His death was the result of a cerebral hemorhage. He was stricken only that morning, never regaining consciousness, and was taken at 8:30 that evening.

Felix, as he was known to all his friends grew to manhood in and near Eureka, attended grade and high school here, later became engaged in oil field work, and for the past eight years had been enployed as a tool dresser for Harry Gore of Wichita, the last two years of which his work was near Russell, Kansas, where he and his family made their home.

He was united in marriage with Alice Cummins of Eureka on Septembeer 22, 1928 at Wichita, Kansas. To this union were born four children, Daryl Dean age 7, Marvin Harry age 5, Christel Felicia age 3, and the infant daughter, Joy Caryl Ann, born November 27, 1940, all of whom he leaves to mourn his passing.

His father, Charles R. Day preceded him in death December 15, 1937.

He is also survived by his bereaved mother, Mrs. Belle Day, three sisters, Mrs. Frankie Ayling of Chanute, Voda Jane of Eureka, Legorna Margaret of Russell; two brothers, Orvis Herbert of Wichita, Melvin Hugh of Mt. Pleasant, Utah; two nephews, Charles Wm. and Dwight Leonard Ayling of Chanute; one neice, Orvetta Ruth Day of Wichita; other relatives and innumerable friends, all of whom feel the shock so keenly of his untimely death.

He united with the Christian Church at Eureka at the age of sixteen years.

Felix was a devoted father, a kind and loving husband, son and brother, and time can never fill the empty space his passing leaves.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday, afternoon, November 27 at the Baird Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Bert Sutton, of the Eureka Christian Church. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
