Mamie E. Dawson was born in Montour, Iowa, on September 2, 1898, the daughter of John Thomas and Mary E. (Brooks) Dawson. She married Winifred Jesse "Red" Beale on August 23, 1922, in Waterloo, Iowa.

Mamie made her home in Marshalltown for 64 years. In their later years, Red and Mamie operated a small café next to the Orpheum Theater on the north side of the 200 block of East Main Street.

Mamie E. Dawson Beale, age 66, of 605 Fremont St., Marshalltown, Iowa, died on Sunday morning, January 17, 1965, at University Hospitals in Iowa City where she had been a patient for three weeks.

Mamie was the last of her family. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, at the Avey Funeral Home in Marshalltown, with the Rev. James K. Delahooke in charge. Pallbearers were Kenneth Arnote, Delbert Liming, Glen Atkinson, Vinton Davis, Richard Harris, and Frank Lynch.
