Shirley Marie Balentine, 70, Lansing, Kan., passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo., following a sudden illness.
She was born July 27, 1937; daughter of the late Roy Carl and Freda Marie (Davis) Davisson.
She married James Calvin Balentine, who preceded her in death in January of 1977.
She is also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dewayne Davisson.
Shirley is survived by her children, Roy Calvin Balentine, Rose Marie Parker (Danny), Beth Ann Raines (Mike) and Betty Jo Parker (James). Also surviving are her sisters, Ann Groah, Naomi Lattea, Susan Singleton; and her brothers, Ancil Davisson, Aubrey Davisson and Danny Joe Davisson. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a school bus driver for 18 years. She most recently worked at Twin Oaks Retirement Community in Lansing, Kan., and she also served as school bus monitor and a care giver.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Saturday, June 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Harold Francis officiating. Interment will follow in the Carder Cemetery in Vadis.
