Keith D. Davis, Sr., age 89 passed away peacefully at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS Monday, February 7, 2011. Visitation will be 6-8pm Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be 11am Wednesday at First Baptist Church Terry, with a one hour visitation prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Terry Cemetery.

Keith came to live in Terry in 1939. Later after serving in the United States Marine Corps during World War II he returned to Terry. Keith was an active member and Deacon of First Baptist Church Terry. He was Postmaster of Terry for 30 years. Keith gave generously of his time to serve as Mayor of the Town of Terry for the betterment of the community. Many times he was called "the Father of our Town." He served on the Terry High School Board during the 1960's. Keith was an active member of the Terry Lion's Club since the 1950's. In 2007 at a town celebration Keith was awarded the Outstanding Service Award.

Keith displayed unwavering love for his wife and children. He gave us strength to face life's battles and taught us to celebrate the good times of life with his unforgettable smile and laughter.

Keith is survived by his wife Betty Cessner Davis, his son Keith Davis, Jr. & wife Kathryn of Jackson, his daughter Jan Davis Salvo of Terry. Grandchildren: Jeffrey Salvo & wife Cassie, David Salvo, Kathleen Davis, Lucy Davis, Great Grandchildren: Bailey Salvo, Abbey Salvo, Tessa Shelton, & Logan Salvo and numerous nieces & nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his mother & father Mr. & Mrs. L.E. Davis, Sr., brothers Ensley Davis, Bert Davis & sister Mathilde Morgan, and son-in-law Nate A. Salvo, III.

Pallbearers: Lou Davis, Dick Davis, Charlie Davis, Steve Davis, David Hester, & James Green. Memorials may be made to Friends of Terry, Terry Depot, PO Box 307, Terry, MS 39170 and Jackson Academy at 4908 Ridgewood Rd., Jackson, MS 39211.
