MARGARET DAVIS BRYANT While anticipating a family dinner, enjoying the comfort of her favorite chair and surrounded by her family, Margaret ever so gently entered the Kingdom of God on March 1, 2014, to reunite with her parents John L. Davis and Claudia Bullard Davis, her beloved sister, Lillian Davis Snow and daughter-in-law Linda H. Bryant. Margaret enjoyed a great quality and quantity of life until the very end. The above photograph is of Margaret enjoying one of her tea parties with friends just two days prior to her perfect passing. Born in Wilmington, NC on May 3, 1924, Margaret is survived by her children; W.E. (Bill) Bryant, Jr., and wife Lynn of Charlotte, Peggy Rust and husband John of Leesburg, VA and David F. Bryant and wife Cyndy of Charlotte; brothers, James L. Davis of Miami, FL, Claude T. Davis, Sr. and wife Bobbie of Charlotte and Sister Louise D. (Jim) Thompson of Wilmington; six grandchildren being Bill's Mary Lauren and Hunter Bryant, Peggy's Mead, Davis, and Lee Rust as well as David's Kristen Bryant. Gran taught them by example the value of living each day joyfully and facing life's adversities with grace and strength. Also, two great- grandchildren and one on the way as we go to press. Aunt Margaret's many nieces and nephews will remember her with great love and affection. Margaret was a giver in every sense of the word. She served her country as a nurse's assistant during WWII, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, member of the Florence Crittenden Home Board, a true PEO Chapter "G" stalwart and honorary member of Flower Trail Garden Club. She took her prize winning camellias to friends in nursing homes on a regular basis. Birthday celebrations and road trips with her Lunch Bunch were always eagerly anticipated and filled with joy. She traveled the world but her happiest memories were of the Davis family reunion at Wrightsville Beach, held annually for over 60 years. Margaret was a long standing member of Myers Park United Methodist Church and dearly loved her Fellowship Sunday School family. She lived in the same neighborhood for 56 years where she cultivated generations of friends and was known affectionately as "Aunt Margaret" by the children. As much as she enjoyed the company of friends, the special closeness she had with her brothers and sisters, and serving others, she never lost sight of her crowning achievement, which was the unconditional love and devotion she bestowed upon her children. For that blessing they are eternally grateful. A memorial service celebrating the life of Margaret Bryant will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the sanctuary of Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Road. The family will receive friends in Jubilee Hall immediately following the service.
