Clara "Louise" Davis, 101, of Columbus, Indiana, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at 3:10 p.m. at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
During World War II she worked for Curtis-Wright in Indianapolis. She was formerly the Head Housekeeper at the I.U. Memorial Union in Bloomington and she and her husband owned the Elston Motel in Shelbyville for many years. She was a volunteer at Columbus Regional Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street. Calling will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. Wed. to service time. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church.
Mrs. Davis was born June 11, 1908, in Charlottesville, Indiana, the daughter of Edward B. and Ida Lillian Hill Winslow. She married Hugh L. Davis in August, 1924.
Survivors include daughters, Judy (Stan) Sutton of Bloomington and Charlene (Bill) Bryant of Columbus; grandchildren, Greg (Jill) Sutton of Noblesville, Shari Sutton of Wallingford, Conn., Kim Speer of Seymour and Tami Spare of Westfield, Indiana.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 22, 1982; and a sister, Lillian Winslow.
