Services for Gerald Wayne Davis, 68, Mineola, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home chapel, Alba, with Steve Neville officiating.

Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Alba.

Mr. Davis passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, in a Tyler hospital.

He was born May 22, 1942, in Rains County to Raymond Earl and Mona Mae Pope Davis and lived all of his life in Wood County. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and retired as a brakeman conductor from the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a life member of VFW Post 7523, and was a child of God.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Davis, and brother-in-law, Cecil Avery.

Survivors include mother, Mona Davis, Mineola; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Earl Nolen, Hallsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Helen Davis, Quitman, Donald and Sue Davis, Frankston; sister, Rita Avery, Mineola; children, Darrell, Larry, Gerald Jr. and Shelly Davis; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers are David Davis, Charles Morton, Dusty Trussell, Cole Cochran, Doug Franklin and Doug Eagerton.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of VFW Post 7523.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
