"John and Sarah Beard, of Fairfield County, Ohio, located in the township late in 1827, following their son James, who came in 1826. Their sons were Joel, James, Samuel, Amos, Elijah and Adam. James and Amos voted at the first county election in April, 1828, while the father, John, was one of the petit jurors in the June session of that year. Some of the family settled in Amanda and others in Marion, where Adam now lives. The parents died here, and some of the sons went West". — History of Hancock County, Ohio (1886), p. 358

John and Sarah had 10 known children: Samuel, Bennett Maxfield, Rebecca (Ebright), James, Joel, Adam, Anna (Stout), Amos, Sarah (Smith) and Elijah.

Sarah was born between 1761–1770. Her place of birth was reported as Kentucky by her son Elijah in the 1880 US Federal Census. Presumably, she died between 1840–1850 in Hancock County, Ohio.

Gravesite Details

"I searched the entire cemetery and… I could not find Sarah's headstone. I found Adam's, but there are many that are worn away from time." Reported By: FAG-user (47664950) on 28 Oct 2019
