He received his Congressional appointment to the USMA from Pennsylvania

Upon graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point on June 2,1953, he was commissioned a 2LT in the Infantry Branch.


He was the son of Harry A. Davis Sr. and Laura Dunn Davis.

On June 3, 1953 as Dale E. Davis, he married Barbara V. Horn at Highland Falls, New York.

They were the parents of two children including Dale W. Davis (1956-2018).
