Crill was the youngest of 9 children born to Joel Oscar Davis & Annie Liza Chesnut. She supported her country during WWII as a "Rosie the Riveter." She met and married the love of her life, Lt. Schuyler Buell Brandt at Tyndall AFB, FL. Crill relished her life as a military officer's wife, volunteering as a Gray Lady in military hospitals and participating in charity events with the Officers' Wives' Club and the West Point Society. She was an extraordinary cook and baker; she excelled in sewing, canning, and gardening. Crill was a strong willed, deeply religious woman whose life was profoundly marked by her love of the US military and Southern charm, hospitality, and pride. She truly lived her nickname, "Lady."
