|Death: ||Apr. 9, 1906|
The many friends of this city of Miss E. Nellie Beck, society editor of The Journal, and Mrs. R. S. Cromer, will regret to learn of the death of their mother, Mrs. Vashti Beck, widow of Dr. John Crafton Beck, of Cincinnati, aged nearly seventy years. Death occured at Denver, Colorado where Mrs. Beck went recently in company with Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Cromer and family. In addition to Miss E. Nellie Beck and Mrs. R. S. Cromer, Mrs. Beck had one son J. C. Beck, Jr., a resident of Miami.
Mrs. Vashti Beck was born in Indiana, and was a daughter of Ransom Davis and Elizabeth Stout, of North Carolina, and spent the last twelve years of her life in Florida, the last six having been with her daughters Miss Beck and Mrs. Cromer, in this city.
Mrs. Beck had been in poor health for several months, but bore her suffering patiently and with Christian fortitude. When it became necessary for Mr. Cromer to go to a higher altitude for the benefit of his health, Mrs. Beck decided to accompany the family, but the strain of the long journey proved more than she could stand, as she was taken ill shortly after reaching the Colorado metropolis and continued to sink until death, which came yesterday, ended her sufferings. Mrs. Cromer's Denver address is 618 Twenty-fourth Ave.
