Mrs. Bessie Davis Darden, widow of Thomas Francis Darden, died early Monday morning at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Cicero P. Yow, 143 West Renovah Circle, after a long illness.

Mrs. Darden was born in Wilmington and spent most of her life here.

She was a life-long member of St. John's Episcopal church.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary D. Hardwicke; one son, Robert D. Darden, of New Bern; two brothers, Robert B. Davis, of Enfield, and C. McD. Davis, of Wilmington; one sister, Mrs. Robert B. Adams, of Phoenix, Arizona, three grandchildren, Mrs. Cicero P. Yow, Robert D. Darden, Jr., of High Point, and Mrs. Edgar Betty, of Asheville, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted from St. John's Episcopal church Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock with the Rev. Hunley A. Elebash, rector, and the Rt. Rev. Thomas H. Wright, bishop of the East Carolina diocese of the Episcopal church, officiating.
