Davis, 88, of Clarion, 2, retired glass worker for Libbey-Owens Ford in Clarion, died Tuesday in a Clarion hospital after a long illness. Survivors: wife, Minerva; daughters, Mrs. Flora Bell Kuhns of Sligo, Pa.; sons, O.J. Davis of Knox, Pa., Charles M. Jr. of California, Paul of Erie, Pa., Arvon of Sligo; brothers, Walter of Clarion, Fred H. of Charleston. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Gobel Funeral Home. Davis, 88, of 831 Moronee St., retired Owens-Illinois Glass Co. employee, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Clarion Hospital. He was born June 23, 1892 in Clarion, a son of John T. and Malvina Garvin Davis. He and the former Minerva McKinley were married May 11, 1904. She survives. Mr. Davis, a foreman at Owens-Illinois when he retired in 1957, worked for the company more than 50 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Bible Class and the Methodist Men's organization of the church. He also was a member of the IOOF Encampment of Clarion, and the Golden Emblem Club and the 25th Century Club of Owens-Illinois. Surviving along with his wife, Mrs. Minerva Davis, are a daughter, Mrs. Wade (Flora Belle) Kuhns of Sligo RD, four sons, Charles S. Davis of the State of California, Orage J. Davis of Knox, Benjamin Aravaughn Davis of Sligo and Paul M. Davis of Erie; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Davis of Charleston, W. Va., and Walter Davis of Warren. A daughter, Mrs. Wade (Blossom) Wiley, preceded him in death. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. Rev. William McCartney, pastor of the Clarion United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery. Members of the IOOF will hold a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. August 26, 1970 Derrick.
Clarion Man, 88, Dies, Funeral Services Friday — Charles M. Davis, 88, of 831 Maronee St. Clarion, died at 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 25, in Clarion Oteopathic Community Hospital. Born in Clarion, June 23, 1882, he was a son of John T. and Malvina Garvin Davis. He was married May 11, 1904, to the former Minerva McKinley, who survives. Mr. Davis, a foreman at the Owen-Illinois Glass Company plant in Clarion when he retired in 1957, had worked for the company for over 50 years. He was a member of the Golden Emblem Club and the Quarter-Century Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion and the Methodist Bible Class and the Methodist Men's Class of the church. He was also a member of the IOOF Lodge of the IOOF Encampment of Clarion. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Wade (Flora Belle) Kuhns of RD Sligo; four sons, Charles S. of California, Orage J. of Knox, Benjamin Arvaughn of Sligo and Paul M. of Erie; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Fred Davis of Charleston W. VA, and Walter Davis of Warren. One daughter, Mrs. Wade (Blossom) Wiley preceded him in death. Friends are being received at the Gerald L. Goble Funeral Home in Clarion, where funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday. The Rev. William A. McCartney, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Clarion will officiate and burial will be in the Clarion Cemetery. Members of the IOOF were to hold a memorial service at 7:30 pm Thursday in the funeral home.
