Norma L. (Davidson) Alexander, 76, died peacefully on December 9, 2008 and passed into the caring arms of her lord and savior. Norma spent the last 6 1/2 years at Lake Ridge Special Care Facility in Moses Lake, WA, where she died from complications of Alzheimers Disease, after fighting a valiant battle against the illness for more than 13 years. Norma was born July 25, 1932, in Bridgeport, WA to George and Lucy Davidson. She graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1951, and worked at local jobs until she married her high school sweetheart, Herb Alexander, on May 14, 1953. The couple, who were married for more than 55 years, traveled during the early part of their marriage while Herb completed his four-year tour of duty with the Air Force and built a career as a powerhouse operator. The couple lived in Columbus, OH; Albany, GA; Seattle, WA; Bridgeport, WA and Riverdale, ND, before making their home in Quincy, WA in 1966. Norma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her extra curricular activities included leading Campfire Girls and Boy Scout groups and serving as Senior Regent of the Moose Lodge in Quincy. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Church in Quincy and regularly volunteered to help with weddings, because she particularly enjoyed playing a role in making each young couples special day memorable. Norma also worked for ten years for the Quincy School District.
The family would like to thank the many compassionate people who helped care for Norma during her long battle against Alzheimers. Particular thanks go to the staff, volunteers and friends, who helped make Normas time at Lake Ridge as comfortable and special as possible.
Norma is survived by her husband, Herb Alexander; her daughters, Debbie Bridges and husband, Cory Bridges and Karen Alexander and husband, Joe Hansen; her son, Raymond Alexander; her brothers, Don, Larry and Arnold Davidson and his wife, Grace Davidson. Norma also has two grandchildren, Kelli and Trent Bridges. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gail Emerick; and her brother, Glen Davidson.
