Berneice Irene Caley, 85, of Mora died on May 21, 2004 at her home. She was born on January 17, 1919 in Woodward, Iowa to William and Mary Adeline (Brown) Davidson. She married Walter H. Caley on May 3, 1936 in Vernon Center, Minnesota. In the early 1950's they moved to Cedar. Walter suffered several strokes and she became the sole provider for the family while working on an assembly line at Federal Cartridge. In the early 1960's, she and Walter bought a restaurant in Chokio. She ran the business and did all the baking. She became well known for her huge caramel rolls. When Walter's health worsened, they moved back to Cedar to be near family. He died on March 18, 1970. She moved to Mora in 1976 and attended Mora United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Twyla Shaw of Finlayson; sons, Walter James Caley of Fridley and Steven David Caley of Tucson, Arizona; sisters, Ruth Kendall of Garden City and Florence Ziegler of Moose Lake; half sister, Chloe Adams of Garden City; six grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Mora United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Buckley officiating. Burial was in Cedar Cemetery in Cedar under the direction of Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora.
