Died
Phebe Ann Davidson was born in Perry county, Kentucky, Sept. 2, 1822; was married to John T. Bailey, November 15, 1840, died Oct. 15, 1901, aged 79 years, 1 month and 13 days. Her father moved to Montgomery county, Indiana, when she was six years old. With her husband she went to Dallas county, Iowa, in 1834, and came to Butler county in 1872, living in Augusta since 1879. Here her husband died in 1886. In her early years in this county she endeared herself to many families in the capacity of a nurse, for which she had a remarkable natural fitness. Many still remember her as an angel of mercy in sickness. To her own family and a large circle of friends she was one of the kindest and best of women. She became a Christian in 1867, uniting with the Church of Christ in Adel, Iowa. From this time she lived a quiet and faithful life until now she has passed to her eternal reward. Tuesday evening, after many months of suffering, she fell asleep without a struggle.
The grief of her friends is soothed by the hope of another happy meeting.
Three sons and five daughters remain to mourn her departure, also one granddaughter, Miss Anna Seward, whose mother is deceased.
Funeral was held from the Christian church, Thursday, at 2 o'clock. Interment in upper cemetery.
