Goldie was the six of eight children born to Rev Peter and Roxie Jones Hopkins, Jr. After the demise of her parents, her rearing was continued by aunt Lula Jones Gary. She was married to Johnny B David, no children were born to this union.

Goldie graduated from Crockett Colored High School and Mary Allen College. She recieved her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics, and Masters of Science Degree from Prairie View State College. She was a retired teacher having taught PE, Girls Basketball Coach, Librarian, and sponsored the Ralph Bunche Cheerleaders.

Goldie was a member of St Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Crockett where she served faithfully until her health began to fail her. She was Church secretary, VBS instructor, and Senior Choir and Missions.

Preceded in death by one brother, Redeemer Hopkins, one sister, Irene Johnson, Aunt Lula Jones Gary, and three sibleys from childhood, Alexander Hopkins, Dillard Hopkins, and Lillian Hopkins.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, October 2, 2003 at St Luke Missionary Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Jasper Cemetery.
