"Carrie Janett, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Y. Daugherty, was born in Poweshiek county, Iowa, Nov. 11th, 1873. She also lived at Guernsey in that state from 1884 till her parents moved to Sterling [KS] in 1891. On March 11th, 1896, she married Mr. Henri C. Babize of this city. From here they moved to Wichita, residing there one year and later left for California. She had been there but five months. Mrs. Babize was a graduate of Cooper college, Sterling, in the business department, and also attended the Northern Iowa Academy in that state. She joined the United Presbyterian church at the age of fifteen and lived a true consistent Christian life. She was buried at Santa Ana on Monday."
