Sue Bailey Cash, 70, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Southlawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Kinch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Sue was born Nov. 25, 1939, in Childress County to Edgar and Alma Daugherty. She was raised in Memphis and graduated from Memphis High School in 1958. She worked as a buyer for many years at Northwest Texas Hospital until she had a medical retirement.
Sue married Floyd E. Cash on May 13, 2000, in Amarillo.
"Mama Sue" was a member of Southlawn Baptist Church, was in the Adult III Sunday school class, and was a part of the church choir as well as the Hand Bell Choir.
Sue really enjoyed volunteering at Northwest Texas Hospital, Ladies Auxillary, where she served as president and also volunteered more than 8,500 hours of her time. She absolutely loved being a "pink lady."
Sue also was on the board at Amarillo Senior Citizens Association (ASCA) and she led the singing after lunch on Sundays.
"Mama Sue" loved her family and the time she spent with them. She also cherished the time spent with her great-grandson, Tagg, who was her precious joy.
"Mama Sue" loved sitting in her favorite chair, watching the birds in her backyard. She was known for serving her Lord and savior Jesus Christ and her love for her family and friends. She never met a stranger and always remembered everyone she met.
She was "Mama Sue" to everyone she knew. Mama Sue had the brightest eyes and the deepest love for her family. We were so very blessed to have loved her back.
The family would like to acknowledge her church family at Southlawn Baptist Church, her volunteer family, her Class of 1958 at Memphis High School and her ASCA family. They also want to thank the doctors, hospital staff and home care givers for taking care of Mama Sue the last week.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Alma Daugherty; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd E. Cash; a daughter, Rhonda Hill and husband Marvin of Amarillo; two sons, Guy Bailey and wife Staci of Abilene and Michael "Mike" Bailey of Amarillo; their father, Ronnie Bailey of Amarillo; a stepson, Floyd Lynn Cash and wife Charolette of New Orleans; six grandchildren, Desiree Childers and husband Jake, Bree Hancock and husband Cody, Brooke Bailey, Evany Elders, Garrett Elders and Byron Bailey; a great-grandson, Tagg Childers; two brothers, Alan Daugherty and wife Donna of San Angelo and Mickey Daugherty of Victoria; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
