Reverend Olin DASHER Born October 11, 1916, beloved husband, father, and a pillar of comfort to countless others in their time of need, passed on to the Lord, December 20th, 2002, in Tacoma Wa. His passing reunites him with Lillian, who shared his life for 56 years, and daughter Mary Caroline, who passed on in May 1999. Olin is survived by his son, William (Karen), and grandson, Nickolas, of Tacoma, Wa. Olin has one surviving brother, Everett (Helen) in Saluda, SC. Olin was the 11th of 12 children and lived on the family farm in Marlow, Georgia. After serving as a chaplain in the Navy, Olin began his missionary work in 1945 by establishing and serving churches in the Northwest. He first served Redeemer Lutheran in Fircrest, WA. His second church, in Portland, OR, was also named Redeemer Lutheran. After two years in Portland, Olin established St. Mark's on Seattle's Beacon Hill. In 1966, Olin moved to Edmonds, WA and established St. Peter by the Sea, where he presided until his retirement in 1981.During Olin's ministry in Edmonds, he also served as Chaplain for the Edmonds Police Dept. Shortly prior to retirement, Olin and Lillian were feted by the community by designating Sept. 27, 1981, as a day in their honor. After retirement Olin served for 9 years as visitation pastor at University Lutheran in Seattle bringing comfort to many. Olin and Lillian enjoyed the opera, symphony, travel, reading, as well as their shared love for the Lord and doing God's work. A celebration of Olin's life will be held January 18, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Edmonds, WA. at 3 PM. Remembrances may be made to The American Diabetes Association, the Lions Club Eye Bank, or any charity of choice.
