Birth: Jun. 30, 1931
Death: Aug. 10, 2013

Lois Marie Dascher passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2013 with her loving family at her side. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of Adele Schoof and Theodore Moore. A resident of Albany for most of her life, Lois enjoyed summers at the Great Sacandaga Lake and winters in Fort Myers, Fla. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who was full of life, love and laughter. Her zest for life and spirit will live on forever through all she touched. Her sense of humor was infectious, as was her laughter. She was generous with both her time and her talents, always willing to give of herself to help others in need or less fortunate. She was a woman of strength, courage and commitment. She lived life on her own terms. Lois had many passions but none as great as her love and commitment to her family. No matter what, she was there to give love, support and encouragement to all she knew and loved so dearly. She also loved gardening, travel and entertaining. Her house was always full of family and friends. There was always room for more and everyone was welcome. She was an accomplished artist having studied with artists in residence at the Albany Institute of History and Art, the Albany Womens Club, Malden Bridge and Woodstock. She attended the Sage College art program in France, Italy and Greece. Her awards and works included the National Exhibition of Fine Art, sponsored by the Colonie Art League, Inc. and Moringside Gallery winning the "Luke Mullen Artist's Friend Award;" The Bethlehem Art Association judged arts shows winning first, second and honorable mention awards; best of show, first and second place at the Albany Tulip Festival Flower show and at the Albany Christmas Greens Show; twice winning second prize at the Hildene Christmas Show in Manchester, Vt; painted murals for the Philadelphia Flower Show; the Children's Wing at St. Peter's Hospitalin Albany, and several builders show houses in Green Harbor, Lake George, Corinth, Glens Falls, Clifton Park and Albany. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman E. Dascher Sr. on March 15, 1992. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Dascher Knight (Jerry) of Delmar; a son, Norman E. Dascher Jr. of Lake George; loving granddaughters, Charlene Kelly Griffin (Scott), Kristin Maureen Lowe (William) and Kelly Forrest Dascher; a grandson, James "Jake" A. Kelly (Melissa); and great-grandchildren, Lacey Marie Griffin, Tanner A. Kelly, Camden W. Kelly and Maeve Elizabeth Lowe, and her dearest friend, Janice E. Denio. The family would like to thank the staff at the Terrace and Eddy Village Green at the Beverwyck for their love, caring and friendship. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. from the Norman E. Dascher Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. in Albany, thence to the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Monday, August 12, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. Those wishing to remember Lois in a special way may send donations in her name to Ben's Jammin' Art Project, 1569B New Scotland Road, Slingerlands, NY 12159 (bensjamminartproject.org.) or the Northeast Health Foundation Building Fund for Troy, 2224 Burdett Ave., Troy, NY 12180.
