Viola M. Darner, 83, Jamestown, departed this life, Saturday, October 6, 2012 in Xenia. She was born September 8, 1929 in Xenia, OH, the daughter of Harley Edward and Hallie (Hall) Mercer. She was married to Paul E. Darner on September 7, 1947. She was a homemaker and resided on the Silvercreek Township family farm since 1951. Her hobbies were reading and flower arranging. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Juanita Curtis, brother Eddie Mercer, and son-in-law Steve Barnett. She is survived by five children; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; two sisters; one brother; two sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Graveside services will be held at 10:30am, Friday, October 12, in Silvercreek Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Tenth Life Pet Therapy Program, P.O. Box 178, Alpha, OH, 45301-0178 or to the charity of your choice.
