Monna L. Brokaw, age 83, of Fredericktown, died Tuesday May 22, 2012 at her home. Monna was born July 4, 1928 in Perrysville, Ohio to Carl and Rhea (McCready) Darling. She graduated from Fredericktown High School, and had spent her lifetime in the Richland and Knox County areas. Monna was a homemaker and wonderful mother to nine children. She loved Blue Birds and Humming Birds. She was a former member of the Owl Creek Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for a number of years. Currently she was a member of the Owl Creek Church of the Brethren at Ankenytown. Surviving are her sons Barry Brokaw and Perry Brokaw both of Mount Vernon, Tim Brokaw of Fredericktown, Kelly Brokaw of Johnsville and Barney Brokaw of Arizona; daughters Tammy Hubb and Gloria Flynn both of Fredericktown, Darla Carpenter of North Carolina, and Sylvia Collins of North Carolina; 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Monna was preceded in death by her husband Rex C. Brokaw, brother and sister-in-law Harold and Ruth Darling. Funeral services will be Saturday May 26, 2012 at Noon at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 East College Street, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019 with Rev. Charles Barnhill officiating. Burial will follow at Quaker Cemetery near Fredericktown. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours before the funeral service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Owl Creek Baptist Church 4044 Owl Creek Church Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 or the Owl Creek Church of the Brethren, c/o Rev.
