Alvin C. Dare, 97, of Lapeer (formerly of Florida) passed away Wednesday (January 30, 2008). He was born January 10, 1911, in Plymouth, Pa., to Vane and Margaret (Thomas) Dare. Mr. Dare was an engineer in fastener manufacturing for over 51 years. He was an accomplished musician, pianist and musical arranger for orchestras and vocal groups. Alvin enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his children, Robert (Dr. Justine Speer) Dare of Lapeer, William V. (Ruth) Dare of Brookfield, Wis., Margaret E. (James S.) Bain of Woodridge, Ill., Marian L. (Roger) Tuttleman of Sterling Heights, David L. (Robin) Dare of Royal Oak; stepsons, Michael Kinney of St. Petersburg, Fla., Robert (Jean) Kinney of Madison, Wis.; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Dare; parents, Vane and Margaret Dare; siblings, John Dare and Helen Armstrong. Memorial contributions may bemade to the First Presbyterian Church, Lapeer. Funeral ser
vices were held Saturday (February 2, 2008) at the First Presbyterian Church, Lapeer. Rev. Todd Smith officiated. Burial of cremains will be in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Northlake, Ill. Arrangements made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer, (810) 664-8111.
