A lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, he was a member of Uzzells Methodist Church and its Young Adult Bible Class. He was an active member of Isle of Wight Ruritan Club before his illness.
He was a son of William E. Darden and the late Mrs. Alice Pearce Darden.
Survivors are his father, Wm. E. Darden; his wife, Mrs. Rita Turner Darden; a daughter Linda May Darden; three sons, Curtis L. Darden, Jr., William R. Darden and Larry G. Darden of the home; five sisters, Mrs. T.C. Lawson of Portsmouth and Mrs. Paul Godwin, Miss Ruth Darden, Mrs. Alton Whitley and Mrs. Cleveland Hall, Jr., of Smithfield and a brother Willis E. Darden of Newport News.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m. in Uzzells Church with burial in the church cemetery. The body was taken from the Bullock Funeral Home to the church at 1:30 p.m.
