Andreas Danz died at his residence in this city at 6:30 o'clock a.m., after a long protracted illness. He was born in Hessen Darmstat, Germany on the 9th day of May, 1827, and emigrated to this city in 1849 without any means, and commenced laboring in the factory of Capt. John P. Frank deceased, and by his industry, honesty and integrity, so gained the confidence of his employer that he became his partner in business, and after the death of the Capt. continued the business on his own account, and so gained the confidence of the public that he built up a large and extensive business, thereby accumulating a considerable fortune. He was a member of Humboldt Lodge I.O.O.F., Druids, and the Ancient Order of Workingmen, in all of which orders and all other benevolent and public enterprises he took an active part. He was a true friend, kind neighbor, and a loving and devoted husband and father.
