Mrs. Luther Bard Claimed by Death
Mrs. Luther Bard, 68, well-known and respected resident of the Blue Creek community for the past 56 years, died on her birthday Saturday afternoon, March 4. She was attending a party given her at the home of her sister, Mrs. Frank Bard when she was stricken with a heart attack and suddenly expired. She had been in ailing health the past 5 years. Born Jennie Danielson, March 4, 1882 she was a native of Andover, Ill.
She was married to Luther Bard September 2, 1905 and to this union were twelve children were born, two having preceded her in death.
She has lived all her life on a farm just outside of El Campo.
She has been a member of the Lutheran Church since her confirmation day, April 24, 1898. Thus she is classed with one of the pioneers in this parish.
Besides her husband, she is survived by the sons Mancel, Orvel, Edsel, Earl, Thornton, Thurman all of El Campo; Harvey of Pennsylvania; daughters Rudice Thonsgard of Plainview community, Fern Alexander of Houston, Bernice Diedrich of Kingsville; sister, Mrs. Frank Bard and brother, Martin Danielson of El Campo, 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. A brother and sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services were conducted at the American Lutheran Church Tuesday 3 p.m. by Rev. Wallace Setterlund. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery, Wheeler Funeral Home in charge.
The pallbearers were nephews.
