He loved camping, motorcycle riding, wood carving, yard work, UFC events, and old time radio. Bernie would officiate basketball games and umpire baseball games at local schools and the Job Corp. Bernie had a fondness for all animals, and never hesitated to help family, friends, and neighbors whenever he could.
He worked at the Sentry Supermarket in Estacada for many years as the head meat cutter. People in this small community knew him as Bernie "The Meat Man". He made the best sausage and ground beef around. He worked his meat cutting craft for 28 years. For the last 14 years, he worked at Unified Grocers as an Account Executive in the Meat Department. He was always known as a hardworking, fun loving, generous and kind human being.
He had many friends and loved ones in his life. He is survived by his parents, Babe and Donna Danielson of Deer River, MN; his siblings, Susan Mickelson and her husband Bob of Makinen, MN, Arne Danielson and his wife Tina of Bowstring, MN, Cindy Grangruth and her husband Clyde of Deer River, MN; his children, Clayton, Sarah, Terry, Jeremy, Cassie, Tammy and their respective families, including several grandchildren; and his loving wife of 23 years, Karen Danielson, who shared many of his interests, particularly the love of the outdoors, animals, music, and a strong bond with family and friends.
With Karen by his side, they faced this grueling battle with cancer with grace and dignity. Bernie passed away the evening of May 10, 2013 at home and surrounded with love from many family and friends. This loss will forever be felt in our hearts.
